Bob: Hi, I’m Bob Clark.
Donna: And I’m Donna Botti. We’re with Delos Inc and we make the web work for you. In today’s Tech News Tuesday episode, we’re talking about a recent report from Adobe on social media engagement. It turns out social media posts with video get 48% more views than those with just images and text.
Bob: That’s right Donna, I know I have been watching more videos on my social media feeds. The report noted that social video generates more shares than text and image content combined, but the real question here is, are you creating video as part of your content strategy?
Donna: Well you should, and the tools make it a lot easier to do that today. Video is a great way to tell your story online. Using your smartphone and simple video editing tools, you can put your small business on the map with social media.
We’ve talked a lot about having a content strategy that lets you repurpose things and video fits this well. You can take the same video and post it on YouTube, embed it in your blog, and share it on social media. You can even take the audio and use it as a podcast and with a transcript, you’ll have a text article too. That way, you’re repurposing your content and delivering it in a number of ways so your audience can interact with you in the way that they like to get their information.
Bob: And once you get going with video, the key is to keep recording, editing and posting, because the more you do it, the better you’ll get.
Donna: So true, practice makes perfect. Another trend the report mentions is the importance of building community and conversations with your audience on social media. You want to remember it’s not a broadcast medium. You want to figure out how you can get a conversation going and create connections with your audience. After all, it’s called social for a reason.
