In today’s Tech News Tuesday episode we’re talking about making videos using just your phone, using a new YouTube platform, called Shorts. Short video platforms like TikTok and Instagram Reels are all the rage right now, and YouTube is getting into the act by letting you create short, catchy videos that are 60 seconds or less.
Bob: That’s right Donna. The Shorts creation tool is now available to everyone who uses the YouTube app. The YouTube Shorts player has over 6.5 billion daily views, so this is a way you can reach new audiences who may have never seen your content before.
Donna: Shorts are separate from regular YouTube videos, but if your current subscribers already watch Shorts content, they’ll be notified when you have a new Shorts video as well.
Bob: So it’s pretty simple to create new videos. All you need to do is open the app, and tap the Create button, and then you basically use the Record button like you normally do when shooting a video with your phone. You can even add music from a large library of audio tracks, or add your own.
Donna: I like that within the app you can add text, change the speed of the video, use video filters, and use multiple video clips in row. You’re able to match the clip you’re about to record with the previous clip. This tool will be familiar to you if you are already using the Snapchat or TikTok apps.
Creating snack-sized content is essential in a world where everyone seems to have a short attention span. Any content can be successful using Shorts. Just make it relatable, authentic and interesting or informative for your viewers. Shorts is still in beta right now, but you can create and view Shorts right within theYouTube app.
Bob: That’s it for today’s episode. You can find a link with more information on Shorts and a transcript of today’s podcast, at DelosInc.com/198.
