YouTube wants to be your one-stop destination for short form video, like the ones you see on TikTok, and shopping. In this week’s Tech News Tuesday we’re talking about YouTube and how they’re making it easier to create videos. Building on a feature they introduced last year, you can remix audio from videos across YouTube, and there are new video effects and editing tools as well. You’ll also hear how shopping capabilities will expand in YouTube as well this year with shoppable videos.
YouTube Shorts
YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, TikTok – Have you embraced the short-form trend yet?
The Shorts format is YouTube’s answer to TikTok and Instagram’s Reels. Short-form video content is incredibly popular now, and YouTube Shorts already have over 5 trillion all-time views. This year, YouTube is making it easier to create videos. They’re building on a feature they introduced last year that lets you remix audio from videos across the platform. They also have new video effects and editing tools to create a seamless finished look.
In addition to new effects and editing tools, YouTube plans to introduce the ability to reply to individual comments by creating another Short, just like you can on TikTok now. These new features may help it compete against TikTok and Instagram which currently dominate this format.
YouTube Shopping Capabilities
YouTube introduced Live Shopping last year and they just recently announced they will make shopping even easier in 2022. Be on the lookout for new shopping capabilities including shoppable videos. You’re already seeing ways to buy products directly from pre-recorded videos on YouTube right now.
